Dharan / CPN-UML Dharan sub-metropolitan committee has drawn the attention of Federal Government Water Minister Rajendra Rai to solve Dharan's drinking water problem in a long-term manner. 

On Friday, Minister Rai was brought to the attention of the party workers in the meeting held at the Dharan party office. Deputy Metropolitan Chairman Harkjung Aveng suggested to Minister Rai to bring a long-term plan to solve the problem due to the severe shortage of drinking water in Dharan. He also requested to manage the budget for deboring to solve the problem immediately. 

Provincial assembly member Ramesh Basnet said that the Leuti-Bharan tunnel is necessary to make Dharan normal. He urged Minister Rai to implement a multi-purpose project that can be used for drinking water, irrigation etc. by the federal government. He said that it is necessary to do everything for a sustainable solution to drinking water. He said that the plan to bring water from Koshi was expensive. 

Water Minister Rajendra Rai said that the solution will be solved through the cooperation of Dharan's drinking water association, state and local levels. He said that since the DPR for bringing water from Koshi and the budget has been confirmed, the tender will be invited in some time. He said that the water problem of Dharan will be solved after the completion of the plan. 


The Dharan sub-metropolitan committee has demanded to construct the Dharan tunnel route so that Itahari and Biratnagar will have drinking water for the prosperity of Koshi province. Similarly, a memorandum has been submitted to the drinking water consumer and sanitation committee. Chairman of the committee, Hari Bahadur Paudel, is currently building a water tank worth 450,000 and due to lack of budget, he has requested to provide the budget. 

 Dharan's political parties also draw attention

Similarly, on Friday, the heads of political parties in Dharan also paid attention to minister Rai. CPN-UML Chairman Harkjung Aveng, Nepali Congress Municipal Chairman Shyam Pokharel, Maoist Center in-charge Chotlang and Municipal Chairman Manoj Bhattarai have met and requested to solve the long-term drinking water problem.
